Jennifer Freel handles pre-trial, trial, and appellate matters for the firm. For more than nine years, Ms. Freel served as Assistant United States Attorney in the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas.  As a result, she has extensive trial experience, securing guilty convictions involving narcotics conspiracies, gun smuggling, and white collar crime.  She has also defended convictions from across the district as an appellate specialist.  Ms. Freel has argued more than twenty times before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Before becoming a prosecutor, Ms. Freel clerked for Judge Fortunato Benavides on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and then worked in the Civil Litigation section of Vinson & Elkins.  She is board certified in Criminal Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, an elected Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a barrister in the Robert W. Calvert American Inn of Court.  She also serves on the executive board of the Austin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and teaches as an adjunct professor teaching Advanced Legal Writing at the University of Texas School of Law.
